Treatment for the Addict
When a child is diagnosed with cancer, there are many places where excellent treatment can be provided, regardless of the parents’ ability to pay. The same can be said for any number of other diseases.
Unfortunately, the disease of addiction receives very little of the foundation support that makes treatment for those other diseases possible. As a result, addicts (and their families) who cannot afford treatment either do not receive it at all, or receive sub-standard care. The results are heartbreaking—and completely avoidable.
RecoveryAid believes that everyone who wants to recover should have the ability to do so. Further, they should have access to the same facilities as those provided to addicts with insurance coverage or the ability to pay their own way.
How can we accomplish this? We work as patient advocates with those who have insurance or other health benefits to maximize the potential of their coverage. For those without the ability to pay, we provide scholarships so they can receive treatment in a local program. Some will repay these scholarships later, and the funds will be used to offer the same help to others. There is no collection process—just an agreement to “pay it forward” when possible.
Other people repay their scholarships through volunteer work with RecoveryAid. We never pressure the addict for money. We simply do everything in our power to help the people who need help get the help they need.
We direct addicts and families to treatment options, providing interventions and referrals for placement that best fit the financial, spiritual, emotional and other needs of the clients.
It wasn’t so long ago that alcoholics and drug addicts were shuffled off to sanitariums, where they would receive little caring and even less in the way of actual treatment. Our society has come a long way from those dismal and depressing lock-ups. Today, with the proper treatment, virtually every addict can be restored to a full, happy and healthy future.
RecoveryAid invites you to help us help others. Your financial donations are appreciated, and you can be assured that your gifts go directly to supporting the services we provide to those who would otherwise be unable to receive addiction treatment and aftercare.
